This is an excellent example of mud crab ( Harpactocarcinus punctulatus) that belongs to the Xanthidae family. It dates back to the Eocene Age approximately 45 – 55 million years ago. Collected in a quarry which is now closed near Verona, in northern Italy. Amazingly preserved fossil crab.? Great preservation and preparation. This fossil crab is missing its legs. The fossil crab measures 2.5 inches across the carapace. Width of carapace is 1.75 inches. Matrix is approximately 3 by 3 inches.

Great preservation and preparation.Nicely detailed rostral spines. This specimen is missing its legs. The fossil crab measures 2.75 inches across the carapace and 2.5 inches wide. The matrix is approximately 5 inches long by 3.5 inches wide. The crab is? standing 2 inches in heght above the matrix.
