Copper theft hitting Italian rail, electrical grid hard
(ANSA)- Rome, November 22 – Italy’s train service, as well as its electrical grid, are suffering severe economic effects of copper thieves. According to government data released Friday, there were 11,000 separate instances of copper theft in Italy, up 12% since the same period in 2012. Some 2,000 of those thefts were on Italian rail lines, while 5,000 were on property belonging to utility provider Enel, up 80% since 2011. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
