Italy’s Lower House OKs clean-up operation near Naples
(ANSA) – Rome, November 5 – Italy’s Lower House on Tuesday authorised a clean-up operation for an area north of Naples damaged by the illegal incineration of toxic waste.
All of the eight motions submitted by various parties were approved, with the exception of some sections of the one by the 5-Star Movement that the government had expressed a negative opinion of. The government has been investigating rising cancer levels around Naples that may have been caused by decades of toxic dumping at the hands of the infamous Casalesi gang, part of the Naples-based Camorra mafia.
