Train derails, track cut off linking Italy to France

The area, about 500 meters from the station in the town of Andora, is connected by a sole track and heavy delays were expected. The 200 passengers on board the train were uninjured. At least one car and the engine completely derailed from the intercity Milano-Ventimiglia train. The injured rail workers were said not to be badly hurt. PNorthwestern Italy has been battered by torrential rain since late Thursday, with several families forced to evacuate their homes.
